    Hamline’s Center for Public Administration and Leadership (CPAL) is dedicated to the continuing education and professional development of public administrators.

    CPAL offers a wide variety of graduate level opportunities to improve public administration within the region.

    Certificate Programs

    Public Administration Certificate Programs
    Certificate programs provide in-depth training in subject matter areas key to the advancement of the public administration field. Certificate program course work spans several months with the opportunity to earn credit toward a Master in Public Administration degree.

    Networking and Professional Development Events

    Critical Conversations
    Breakfast networking sessions focused on critical issues affecting the role of government. Our next Critical Conversations session is April 25, 2014, exploring the topic of climate change. Registration deadline is April 22, 2014.

    Public Service Insights and Trends
    These seminars are more in-depth explorations of popular topics, designed to give public servants skills they can bring back to their workplace. Our next Insights & Trends seminar is April 10, 2014, and focuses on Succession Planning. Registration deadline is April 4, 2014.

    Purpose

    • To highlight and support the contribution of Hamline’s 700 Public Administration Masters level graduates working in the five state region.
    • To consolidate and expand the Graduate School’s professional and continuing education efforts supporting public service in Minnesota.
    • To provide networking opportunities for our graduates in and among all levels of local government in the State.
    • To provide a forum for the discussion and analysis of policy and administrative issues facing the local government community.

    Hamline's program is rooted in a practitioner philosophy.  The faculty teaching in this program have years of experience working in their respective fields and bring a combination of theory and experience to the classroom.
